Trams on the West Midlands Metro will once again only be running between Wolverhampton St George’s and Library between Wednesday 28th September and Sunday 9th October. The closure of the newest part of the line to Edgbaston Village comes to allow for work to take place on Broad Street as well as coinciding with the Conservative Party Conference.
Which is the horse and which is the cart of these two occurrences is unknown but with the Party Conference taking place at the International Conference Centre the chance is also being taken to complete surfacing work of the Black Sabbath Canal Bridge on Broad Street. It could of course be that in a rush to get it opened in time for the Commonwealth Games not all work was completed fully but to have a 10 day closure just two and a half months after it officially opened doesn’t exactly do wonders for the reputation of the West Midlands Metro.
Throughout this period all trams from Wolverhampton St George’s will terminate at Library. A full service is scheduled to resume on Monday 10th October.
