Around the World in Trams: Woltersdorf 11

In today’s “Around the World in Trams” we return to the Oldtimer Museum, Rugen, Germany as we feature another of the trams in the collection there – and one which has led a pretty nomadic existence!

Built in 1913 for Berlin as their no. 1233 this vehicle has carried no fewer than six numbers over the past 109 years and called three different places its home. It ran as 1233 in Berlin until 1925 when it was renumbered 5617 and remained in service there until 1962. In 1962 the tram made its first move – to Woltersdorf – which is when it first received the number 11. 1968 saw another number change when it became 16 and then in 1978 it was renumbered once more to 26. In 1980 it was back to Berlin and back to the number 11 and then 1996 saw a return to Woltersdorf and its last new number – A11. Its final move came in 1998 to the Oldtimer Museum where it remains on display today.

On display inside, here we see A11 at the museum on 29th July 2015.
