In Pictures: Another look at Picardy Place

Back to Edinburgh as we continue to keep abreast of the latest developments in the construction of the Trams to Newhaven extension, due to open in spring 2023. In this update we take a look at the tramstop at Picardy Place.

The island platform at Picardy Place – which is the first new stop on the extension – is continuing to take shape as this view towards Leith Walk shows. The track to Newhaven is on the left and to the Airport is on the right. The Playhouse Theatre is in the centre background (with the flagpoles) with the glass fronted building on the right the Omni Centre. The Glasshouse Hotel is in between the two which retains its former Church façade and is also on the top floor of the Omni building. Tram constriction vehicles occupy the remainder of the traffic island which will be completed once all tram works are finished here. This should include the return of the Sherlock Holmes statue. 1. Geoff Currie says:

I hope they put some zebra or pelican crossings to access these island tram stops!
