Out and About: Trams at University of Sheffield and on Glossop Road

“Out and About” returns today as we head to Sheffield for images taken around the University of Sheffield and on Glossop Road.

In Birmingham as part of the work to extend the West Midlands Metro to Hagley Road in Edgbaston trams will run in the Five Ways underpass but it won’t be the first underpass for trams in the UK – far from it! Trams running on the Blue and Yellow routes from the city centre out to Middlewood and Malin Bridge dip down under the road just after departing from University of Sheffield as we see in this view of 110 running on the Blue route to Malin Bridge.

And coming the other way from the underpass is 124 which is working on the Yellow route to Meadowhall.

As a lady runs past the camera we look further into the distance as 107 approaches with a Yellow route working to Middlewood.

107 rounds the curve from West Street as it continues its journey off to Middlewood.

We then find 107 departing from University of Sheffield as another tram stands in the adjacent platform. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke, 2nd August 2021)
