Lockdown Walks: Manchester Metrolink 3070

Off to Manchester we go again for this edition of “Lockdown Walks”.

Featured in this article is M5000 3070 which was delivered to Manchester on 29th June 2013 – just a week after 3069 arrived at Queens Road Depot. As with around 99% of deliveries this was a Saturday and with it being the 70th of the class to arrive a well trodden path of unloading was undertaken with it soon being commissioned and entering service. The tram has remained in the fleet livery of Metrolink ever since with no vinyl wrap adverts having been carried as yet.

In this first image of 3070 we see it leading a double unit as it departs from Ladywell (with the stop located on the far side of the road it has to snake across the road to continue its journey to Eccles).

And then shortly afterwards we see 3070 continuing its journey to Eccles under beautiful blue skies. (Both Photographs by Keith Chadbourne, 31st May 2021)
