Edinburgh Trams look for more tram drivers

Edinburgh Trams have become the latest tramway across the UK to start recruitment with the company looking for new tram drivers as they continue to gradually increase services on the network.

With a salary in the range of £22,429 to £29,157, Edinburgh Trams are looking for anyone who has at least two years driving experience (not necessarily within the UK) with a full UK driver’s licence which must be held for a minimum of one year and with no more than 3 penalty points. Any successful candidate must have the ability and desire to work safely, be flexible and deliver customer service excellence.

As you would expect the main purpose of the role will be to drive trams between Edinburgh Airport and York Place (and from 2023 to Newhaven) and you would be responsible for providing a safe, efficient and customer focused experience. When on spare duties you may be expected to carry out other tasks outside of the core role.

After training you would on average work 40 hours a week, over 7 calendar days over 364 days a year. There are early, mid and late driving shifts. Shifts can start as early as 0430 and finish as late as 0030.

Sue Bucher, HR Manager at Edinburgh Trams, said: “It’s a great feeling to be coming out of lockdown and being able to recruit for the future. We have a thorough recruitment and selection process in place, but also a rewarding training and development programme for successful candidates.”

Applications can be made at https://careers.edinburghtrams.com/job/166840 with a deadline for applications being midnight on Sunday 13th June.
