Lockdown Walks: Edinburgh Trams 271

In this edition of “Lockdown Walks” we are featuring Edinburgh Trams once more.

Like many other city centres across the UK there always seems to be new developments in Edinburgh, although unlike others a lot more seems to be the redevelopment of older buildings for new purposes taking into consideration the historical nature of the area. One such building is seen in the below photo on the left-hand side with the flagpole at the back of the tram. This is 100 Princes Street which is being restored by Red Carnation Hotels as an upscale boutique hotel. This building started off life in the 19th century as a hotel but since the 1930s had been the Edinburgh clubhouse of the Royal Over-Seas League.

The tram in this image is 271 – which carries adverts for Parabola My Edinburgh Park – which is running along Princes Street with a service heading to York Place. (Photograph by Roy Calderwood, 23rd March 2021)
