Around the World in Trams: Freiburg 259

We head to Freiburg in Germany one last time in this edition of “Around the World in Trams”.

In this photo we take a look at one of the first low floor trams to run in the city, a Duewag GT8Z. Although not 100% low floor they were built with a 48% low floor section and no. 259 was built in 2004 – one of 26 such trams built for the system in Freiburg. They went through a modernisation programme from 2012. This image was captured on 12th May 2012 and shows 259 in an overall advertising livery as it works on line 2 to Gunterstal.
