Lockdown Walks: Stagecoach Supertram 112

Today’s “Lockdown Walks” is heading into Sheffield City Centre.

The South Yorkshire Supertram network opened in eight different phases, taking over 18 months from the first section opening to the last. The central “spine” of the network between Fitzalan Square on the outskirts of the city centre to Cathedral (the true hub of the network) was the fourth section to open on 18th February 1995 – the first section to open in 1995.

A lady gets some money out the bank on the left but apart from that the number of trams seen here seem to outnumber the people! 112 has just departed from Cathedral as it works a Blue route service to Halfway. (Photograph by Stuart Cooke, 13th March 2021)
