EATM awarded £50,000 from Culture Recovery Fund

The East Anglia Transport Museum in Carlton Colville is celebrating after they have been awarded a grant of £50,000 from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund. The money will go towards some vital expenditure projects which were shelved earlier in the year as well as some future developments at the museum.

The Culture Recovery Fund was set-up by the Government to support cultural organisations that were financially stable before the Covid-19 pandemic and needed extra funds to enable them to stay on a sound financial footing. Grants of between £50,000 and £3 million have been awarded with the volunteer led East Anglia Transport Museum being given a vital £50,000.

The East Anglia Transport Museum will be using this money to firstly fund some vital expenditure projects which had to be stopped earlier this year and will also allow them to continue developments at the museum over the coming months. It is also planned to use the cash to help provide additional visitor facilities which should be ready for the start of the 2021 season.

The museum is currently open every Thursday and Sunday and will remain so until the end of November. It is also hoped they may be able to open during December although further details on this is still to be revealed.
