Lockdown Walks: Tyne & Wear Metro 4015

A change of scenery for this latest “Lockdown Walk” as we are in the northeast for an image of the Tyne and Wear Metro.

The Tyne and Wear Metro was both the first UK light rail system to reduce their timetable and then increase it back towards normal levels with the current timetable seeing a normal daytime service weekdays with just the evenings and weekends now seeing a reduced operation. Plenty of other social distancing and safety measures have also been introduced at busy stations with sanitiser dispensers and floor marking to try and make it as safe as possible for those who have to travel on the network on essential journeys.

With clear blue skies and warm weather we see 4015 leading a standard double-unit away from Tynemouth passing the large green by the Aquarium in the town. The units are off to Cullercoats and Whitley Bay. (Photograph by David Maxwell, 20th May 2020)
