NET Park and Ride sites amongst safest in country

The Phoenix Park Park and Ride site has become the latest site on Nottingham Express  Transit to receive a prestigious safety mark – the fourth such site on the network to have received it. The award in question is the Park Mark® Safer Parking Award and is part of an initiative developed by the Association of Chief Police Officers and the British Parking Association.

The measures which have helped Phoenix Park to gain the award include CCTV cameras, improved lighting and regular patrols by NET staff. Phoenix Park joins over 4,000 car  parks across the country including NET’s own sites at Wilkinson Street, Hucknall and Moor Bridge.

Steve Guthrie, NET’s Safety and Standards Manager, said: “We have put in place a series of measures to help deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour and the award recognises we are doing everything we can to prevent crime whilst also reducing the fear of crime. To achieve the award, sites are subject to a thorough risk assessment. The latest police figures clearly demonstrate that our continuous efforts to make our facilities safe for visitors are having an impact. However, we will not become complacent. We are maintaining a high level of vigilance in order to ensure all our park and ride sites are as consistently free from crime as possible.”
