Work to get Metrolink ready for Trafford Park line continue

There will be amended services on Manchester Metrolink on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May as preparations continue to get the network ready for the Trafford Park line – due to open in 2020. This work will see the Eccles line closed throughout both days with services from Ashton-under-Lyne being diverted to Bury or turning short at Deansgate-Castlefield. Other early morning works on the Sunday will also see changes to all services which normally run via Cornbrook until 0900.

It is expected that the main concentration over this two day period will be the connection of the new line to the current network at Pomona with other preparatory works also taking place at the same time.

In order to facilitate this work on both Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May no trams will run on the entirety of the MediaCityUK and Eccles lines. This means trams from Ashton-under-Lyne will run to Bury instead with the usual MediaCityUK service (Saturday only between 0830 and 1900) terminating short at Deansgate-Castlefield.

Then on Sunday 26th May only there will no trams at all travelling through Conbrook from the start of service until 0900. This means that trams from Altrincham will terminate at Old Trafford, from East Didsbury and Manchester Airport at Firswood and from Rochdale at Exchange Square.

Replacement buses will be running in all affected areas.
