NET raise £1,200 for MacMillan Cancer Support

Nottingham Express Transit have raised more than £1,200 for MacMillan Cancer Support at the start of a new partnership between the two organisations. The money was raised by staff, passengers and the system operator with NET employees staging a bake sale at the Travel Centre and at Wilkinson Street Depot with members of the travelling public making donations on board trams.

Operator of Nottingham Express Transit, Keolis Nottingham, have signed a 12 month partnership agreement with the charity after a vote by staff for their charity of the year.

£382 was raised at the bake sale and through collections with a number of other tram related events and activities having previously raised £480. Those sums have been matched by Keolis Nottingham bringing a total of £1,245.50.

Chris Williams, Commercial Manager at Keolis Nottingham, said: “We’ve supported MacMillan’s national Go Green campaign for a number of years, but now it has helped us celebrate a new partnership between the tram and the charity. It’ll be the first of a series of fundraising activities over the next 12 months as we aim to raise at least £10,000 for a cause that means so much to so many people.”

A Just Giving Page has also been set-up allowing passengers to donate throughout the year: https://thetram.net/www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nottm-trams-macmillan.
