September Review – Isle of Man: No. 23 – Shunting at Derby Castle sheds

Today we are heading up to Derby Castle Sheds to view some trams being shunted around the yard at various times during the events week (and beyond!). And its not only MER cars being moved…

Winter Saloon 20 at the entrance to the car sheds on 10th September with the trolley being turned.

Winter Saloon 19 heads off north past Derby Castle Sheds with a service to Ramsey just as Tunnel Car 5 is being shunted around the yard. Also visible actually in the sheds are 2 and 7.

Recently Derby Castle Sheds hasn’t only be home to the Manx Electric Railway trams with several of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway vehicles enjoying attention. In this view we see enclosed saloon 27 – partway through rebuild – being hand shunted around the yard. (All Photographs by Gareth Prior)
