Edinburgh Corporation Tramways enamel sign goes up for auction

For those of you who wish to own a bit of history from the original Edinburgh tram
system now is your chance as an enamel sign is to go up for auction on Saturday 1st December. The sign – which has come from a premises at 68-69 Broughton Street in the City – is double sided and was used to promote that the premises was an “Agent for Edinburgh Corporation Tramways Parcel Express Parcel Tickets Sold Here”.

The premises at Broughton Street was just one of around twelve parcel agents in Edinburgh and so there can’t be many of the signs still in existence so this is a rare chance to own your own piece of Edinburgh Corporation Tramways memorabilia! And with the new Edinburgh tram system due to open within the next couple of years what better time to remind yourself of the good old days of the original tramway?

The auction will take place at Shapes Auctioneers in Edinburgh on Saturday 1st
December but if you are unable to attend you can view and bid for the item online at http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/shapes-auctioneers-and-valuers/catalogue-id-2853095/lot-16294019 (this link also shows a photo of the enamel sign).
