For the first time ever Santa Trams are to run on the Manx Electric Railway with Santa setting up a grotto at Laxey on two weekends in December. Isle of Man Railways have run Santa specials on the Steam Railway in the past and have now decided to extend that to the Manx Electric Railway to allow passengers to enjoy the winter scenery in anticipation of meeting the main man himself.
Santa Trams will be departing Derby Castle, Douglas on Saturday 15th, Sunday 16th, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd December and travelling all the way through to Ramsey with Santa being in his grotto at Laxey alongside entertainment, festive refreshments and face painting. Tickets will cost £10 for adults and £8 for children (which includes
a gift from Santa).
Trams will also be running on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December to a Christmas Market inside the Laxey Working Men’s Institute withnormal fares applying and for those with tram tickets entrance is free.
