Special DLR Discovery trains to run this summer

Have you ever travelled on the Docklands Light Railway and wondered about the history of the area? Well if you have now is your chance to fund out more with the DLR Discovery train running every weekend from 4th August to 9th September. Not only will you be able to learn more but it will also be a unique opportunity to travel on a fast DLR train not stopping at any intermediate stations!

Ticket holders will be joined by a professional tour guide on board as the train travels between Tower Gateway and Cutty Sark – another unique aspect of the tour is that normally services from Tower Gateway don’t travel on this line! There will be a commentary as the train travels along the line providing insight into some of the areas most well-known sights.

The tour will include Canary Wharf, Crossrail Place and Roof Garden above the Elizabeth line station, Billingsgate Fish Market, Limehouse basin and the iconic Cutty Sark tea clipper. Once participants leave the train there will be a 30 minute guided walking tour around Greenwich. This tour will start and finish at Cutty Sark DLR station with participants then able to return by any service train.

The tours will start on 4th August and will run every Saturday and Sunday until 9th September. Trains will depart on the hour every hour starting at 1000 with the last tour leaving Tower Gateway at 1700. Tickets are £8 for adults and £4 for children. They can be purchased in advance at tfl.gov.uk/dlr-discovery.
