In Pictures: Nearly there on Bilston Road!

After over five months of disruption the end is now very much in sight on the track replacement project along Bilston Road with just a few final pieces of the jigsaw to be completed before the road is fully reopened and testing can start. These latest images show the new smooth road surface is place plus the last of the work at the Priestfield end.

The plan remains that the road will be reopened to traffic from 2nd December with testing of the trams then taking place until a full service will resume on 10th December. To this end Midland Metro have released a new timetable between 2nd and 9th December and then from 10th December.

The last of the road surface is laid as the tramway arrives on Bilston Road at Priestfield.

Looking the other way and the road surface is in place.

Down towards The Royal and the road surface has been completed with workers from Colas just undergoing some finishing work.

A view we haven’t seen for a while, Wolverhampton St George’s. In a little under two weeks time trams will once again be stopping here. (All Photographs by Andy Walters, 27th November 2017)
