In Pictures: Trackwork begins on Midland Metro

The long six month closure between Priestfield and Wolverhampton St George’s on Midland Metro has begun as planned. The last trams ran the full length of the line on Saturday 10th June with the trackwork starting the following day with some progress already in evidence. Andy Walters provides us with a photo update.

31 stands at The Royal on the last day of through services – 10th June – with signs already up warning motorists of road closures.

On 12th June and the stop signs are in place for trams at Priestfield. 21 waits to head back to Birmingham.

No through road! Just beyond Priestfield and the road is closed to all traffic although no evidence yet of any work on this section.

The road surface is removed.

Further along Bilston Road and more evidence of the top road surface being removed.

Lots of barriers at The Royal but no work as yet.

More top road surface being removed. (All Photographs by Andy Walters)
