New tramstop planned for Broadmarsh Shopping Centre

A new tramstop is set to be built at the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre in Nottingham City Centre as part of a package of projects announced for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. £10 million has been pledged for the redevelopment of the bus station and car park at Broadmarsh Shopping Centre with a £63 million funding package for the whole region announced this week by the Government.

At this stage plans for the redevelopment have not been fully revealed but what is known is that the bus station and car park will see work which will include a new tramstop – although the exact location of the tramstop does not seem to have been announced. The location of the shopping centre and bus station is remarkably close to both Nottingham Station and Lace Market stops so it remains to be seen how worthwhile a new stop will be. The car park will also include retail units on the ground floor. The whole project to redevelop the shopping centre is due to be completed by 2020.
