With the opening of the Wedding Chapel in Blackpool it hasn’t been an unusual sight of seeing people travelling to or from their wedding by tram but now Blackpool isn’t the only place where people have travelled from their wedding by tram with a tram hired by a couple in Sheffield to get from the ceremony to reception.
On Saturday 14th May Sian and Joe Caldwell hired a tram – with celebrity liveried 120 the tram provided by Stagecoach Supertram – to transport themselves and 200 guests from Cathedral to Shalesmoor. The tram’s destination screen even said “Sian & Joe” with a heart provided instead of the route colour (which might make you want to go ahhh or vomit!)
Sian was delighted with her day: “I would like to thank all at Supertram for the fantastic service we received for our wedding transport. We looked into hiring a private tram after realising that where we were getting married and our wedding reception were both relatively close to a tram stop. It was a convenient and cheap way of transporting almost 200 people! The staff were informative and communicative during the build up to the wedding and I had no concerns whatsoever that it wouldn’t run smoothly. The tram was a hit on the wedding day! It was fun parading down Fargate in our wedding attire and waiting at the tram stop for our special ‘wedding’ tram. It was unique and in keeping with our Sheffield themed day. The children especially loved going on the tram, particularly those that had never been on a tram before. I am so glad that I chose to hire a tram and would recommend it anybody thinking of doing it as part of their wedding celebrations”.
