More namings in Nottingham

Two more Alstom Citadis trams have received in Nottingham with mathematicians Ada Lovelace and George Green the latest inspirational figures to be honoured. A joint ceremony took place at Wilkinson Street Depot on Wednesday 14th October with local schoolchildren given the task of unveiling the names.

Cllr Jane Urquhart, who has lead responsibility for NET at Nottingham City Council, explained more why these two had been chosen for the naming: “We are really proud to be honouring the achievements of both Ada Lovelace and George Green. Both have contributed so much to the world of science and mathematics and are a true inspiration to the next generation. Ada is a real ambassador for the achievements of women, and this is a fitting tribute in the year which marks 200 years since her birth, while George was a local boy whose determination and dedication lead to great things and his work is now celebrated and recognised.”

* Can anyone confirm the numbers of the trams which have received these names? Unfortunately all the photos taken at these ceremonies are more interested in the lower half of the tram where the name is carried and not the numbers higher up!
