This collection again heads to the United States of America with photos taken on four separate visits to the museum now known as the Southern California Railway Museum (from 2019) but previously the Orange Empire Trolley Museum. It was founded in 1956 at Travel Town in Griffith Park, Los Angeles and in 1959 the Pinacate station near Perris (about 70 miles South East of Los Angeles) was acquired with around a mile of track which had belonged to the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway. By this time 11 trams were owned by the group and they were moved to Perris. In the 1970s a circular loop line was built around the car sheds and workshops starting at finishing at Pinacate station. The former ARSF mainline is now around 1.4 miles long having been extended towards the town of Perris. The loop is dual gauge and the mainline standard with both being electrified. The mainline is operated by former Pacific Electric cars and by steam and diesel trains with the loop line mainly served by former Los Angeles Transit cars although Pacific Electric cars can also be used.
In this gallery we take a look at the trolleys at the museum on four visits between 1981 and 2002.
