Gallery 883: Around the World in Trams Special - Southern California Railway Museum 1981-2002


In this photo we see Los Angeles Transit Lines PCC car 3165 which was built in 1948, as one of 40 built by the St. Louis Car Co. These trams were 9ft wide, with the 3'6" trucks being somewhat lost under the bodywork. 134 out of 165 PCC cars from Los Angeles were sold to Cairo in Egypt and 22 went to a mining company in Northern Chile. 3165 in preserved in its' final pale green LAMTA livery.
