Gallery 745: Tyne and Wear Metro Northern routes - June 2018

In the second of our triology of Photo Galleries from the Tyne and Wear Metro we concentrate on the northern routes - that is those north of the River Tyne. This section of the network contains much of the network which inagurated Metro services in the early 1980s and includes the North Tyneside loop which - probably unsurprisingly - runs in a loop! As well as this loop line this part of the network includes the line to the Airport (the final part of which from Bank Foot didn't open until November 1991). As with our first part of this series not only do we take a look at the trains in service - which includes not only the refurbished vehicles but also one of the unrefurbished units in service - but also the architecture of the stations along the line.
