Gallery 745: Tyne and Wear Metro Northern routes - June 2018

Longbenton station, looking towards the coast. This station was not opened until 14th July 1947 in the final year of the original London & North Eastern Railway (that had existed since 1st January 1923) prior to Nationalisation on 1st January 1948. It became a Metro station with the first stage of the system from Tynemouth to Haymarket via Monkseaton on 11th August 1980.
