Throughout the past 12-15 months when we have limited new content we have had several "Picture in Time Specials" where we have looked at specific events or years but in this latest collection of photos we widen the remit somewhat as we take a look at a selection of the trams which have run on the tramway at Beamish. In normal circumstances there is little doubt that the hardest working heritage trams in the UK are those which run at Beamish transporting visitors around the museum circuit with many of the services being full to capacity including standing room only. Over the years not only has there been a resident fleet of trams but there have also been a number of visitors which have run as well and in this collection we take a look at the majority of those. It is not a complete picture of all the trams - there are at least two (Blackpool 304 and Manchester horse car L53) which don't feature - but we still see 20 trams in service, mostly in recent years but there are also a few older images. As well as those trams in service there are also some which have not yet seen operating action on the tramway (although again that's not a complete picture either). It shows just what Beamish has offered the tram enthusiast in recent years and makes you look forward to a time when the trams runs at Beamish once more!
