Gallery 946: Picture in Time Special - Trams at Beamish

This can clearly be identified as the Town at Beamish with the houses and pub on the left still in situ although further down the street has seen additional buildings built since. Taken in May 1985 the tram we see here is Sheffield 342, a tram that if you take a look at the Beamish Fleet List today is no longer there. However, this is in fact better known as Sheffield 264 but at this time was carrying its later number and due to the condition of the top deck converted to open top condition. 1985 would be the last year that this tram would run like this with it then being withdrawn for restoration to 264.
