20 Photos of... Blackpool Tramway - Balloon Cars September 2006

Into the archives for this set of photos and its back to September 2006 to take a look at the Blackpool Tramway. It goes without saying that the Blackpool Tramway in 2006 compared to the Blackpool Tramway in 2024 is very different as back then every tram was a heritage tram which were all still operating a normal day to day service between Starr Gate and Fleetwood.

In this gallery we concentrate on the Balloon Cars and take a look at the 19 different trams of the class which operated during this visit to Blackpool. There are no "B fleet Balloons" here as all just have normal centre entrances without any "bulges" but there are three flat-fronted rebuilds to take a look at. A few of the traditionally shaped trams are also still in heritage liveries applied for the 70th anniversary of the class a couple of years earlier but the majority of those we see are in advertising liveries - some attractive and others, well, not quite so attractive!

Photographs were taken between Sunday 3rd and Saturday 9th September 2006.
