By the 2000s there had started to be a number of trams which ran on the Blackpool Tramway in a plain livery whilst they waited for a new advertising contract. Unfortunately, that had a bit of a negative in that after a period of wet weather there really was no hiding the pantograph grease on the body of the tram. And so it was for this photo of 721 at North Pier on 3rd September 2006. It had lost an advert for Hot Ice the previous November and wouldn't see new vinyls added until the following May. The tram can now be found at the North East Land, Sea and Air Museum in Sunderland - its had more advertising vinyls removed and is now plain black.
