Around the World in Trams - The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum 2024 Trolley Fair

Beaver Valley Traction 1 is a four wheel snow sweeper built by McGuire-Cummings during 1918 that rides on a McGuire pedestal truck which mounts two Westinghouse 306CD traction motors and uses a B23 controller. This car was built to the Pennsylvania Trolley gauge. There is an additional traction motor used to power the snow sweepers at each end. This sweeper was built as Beaver Valley Traction 1, during 1935 it was acquired by the Pittsburgh Railways as their M56; further passing to the Port of Allegheny Transit ("PATransit") as their M56 as of 1st March 1964. M56 was retired by PATransit in May 1972 and was acquired by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum that same year. It has been restored to operating condition as Beaver Valley Traction number 1.
