| Around the World in Trams - The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum 2024 Trolley Fair |
![]() Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority ("SEPTA") 4 is a double truck wood bodied combination snow sweeper and freight motor that was built as Philadelphia and West Chester Traction Company 4 by the McGuire-Cummings Company during 1929. This car rides on two Baldwin MCB trucks each of which mounts two General Electric 203L traction motors; the controller is a General Electric MC97. This car was built to the Pennsylvania Trolley gauge. Ownership of this car passed to the Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company as of 19th December 1935 and to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority ("SEPTA") as of 29th January 1970; the car retained the number 4 on the maintenance of way roster during its entire history. Car 4 was retired during 1987 and was acquired in operating condition by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in 1988. |
