Around the World in Trams - The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum 2024 Trolley Fair

West Penn Railways 1 is a boxcab locomotive which was built in the shops of the West Penn Railways during 1915. This locomotive rides on two pedestal axles each of which mounts one Westinghouse model 56 traction motor; the controller is a K11. This locomotive was originally built to standard gauge but was later modified to the Pennsylvania Trolley gauge. This locomotive was used to switch the dual gauge Connellsville facility of the West Penn Power Company. This locomotive continued its switching service after the shutdown of the West Penn Railways on 9th August 1952. This locomotive was retired by the West Penn Power Company during 1958 and was acquired by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum.
