M283 is a double truck crane or derrick car that was built as Pittsburgh Railways M283 by the Differential Car Company during 1929. This car rides on two Differential Arch Bar trucks each mounting two Westinghouse 532A traction motors; the controller is a Westinghouse magnetic HL29A. This car was built to the Pennsylvania Trolley gauge. Ownership of this car passed to the Port of Allegheny Transit ("PATransit") as of 30th March 1964 retaining the number M283.
