Edinburgh Trams - Trams to Newhaven Driver Training April 2023

Wednesday 19th April saw the start of daytime Driver Training on the Edinburgh Trams extension to Newhaven - the latest major step towards the start of passenger services. This was the first real chance on the almost 3-mile long extension to see trams running during the day and at full line speed and since that date there have been regular trips on the new section of tramway as the entire cohort of drivers get their chance to drive on it.

In this collection we take a look at some of the training runs underway at various locations along the length of the line - including along Leith Walk and also around Ocean's Terminal and to Newhaven with many new vantage points for photos of trams in fairly unique settings.

Passenger services should be underway this spring - on a date to be announced - but before we reach that milestone there will also be testing of a full timetable (without passengers).
