Gallery 963: Around the World in Trams Special - Western Railway Museum, Rio Vista

Here we see Pacific Electric 457 - an arch-roof, double-end, double-truck, steel coach with a smoking compartment and known as a "blimp" on the Pacific Electric. Built in 1911 for the Southern Pacific Red car operation it remained there until 1941. It then moved to Pacific Electric ownership from 1947 and was sold on to the Los Angeles Metropiltan Transit Authority in 1958. It was finally withdrawn in 1960 and was rescued from the scrap yard by the BAERA who moved it it to the museum.
