Gallery 944: Picture in Time Special - Manchester Metrolink 3rd September 2008

We return to the archives for this collection of photos taken on the Manchester Metrolink system over a few hours on 3rd September 2008. The Metrolink system of this time consisted of the Altrincham and Bury lines as well as the Eccles line with the first M5000s still a year away from being delivered. We see several of the T68 and T68As in service in the familiar white, grey and turquoise livery - this was well before advert liveries became a major feature of the Metrolink system. As was typical for your photographer at this time a trip to Manchester consisted of a few hours as a daytrip while on holiday in Blackpool so the locations are rather limited with the majority of the photos here being taken around St Peter's Square although we also feature Harbour City and Broadway on the Eccles line and G-Mex, Mosley Street and Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre.

* More up-to-date photos from Manchester Metrolink can be found in Gallery 936 where we have a small selection of photos taken in April 2021 and if you want to see more photos from the archive why not take a look at Gallery 918 which includes images from 2007.
