Gallery 789: Around the World in Trams - The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum 2018 Trolley Fair

We saw Cincinnati Street Railway 2227 in the distance in the previous shot but this time we have a closer view of the 1919 double truck single ended standard car. After withdrawal as a passenger car 2227 was converted to a sand car numbered S223 in 1948 but only lasted in this condition until 1951 when final withdrawal came. It was then first preserved by the Southern Ohio Division of the Electric Railroaders Association and was acquired by the Lake Shore Electric Railway at the disposal auction of Trolleyville, USA. It finally made it to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in 2009. As the Cincinnati Street Railway used a negative return wire the car is equipped with two trolley poles.
