Gallery 789: Around the World in Trams - The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum 2018 Trolley Fair

Another car from outside the local area is New Orleans Public Service 832 - a car which is a media star having featured in LIFE magazine in a 1947 article about the Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar named Desire. This trolley was built in 1922 and is a double ended car and remained in service until closure of the Desire line in 1964. It was soon acquired by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum for the princely sum of $1 with shipping costing $1400. With the New Orleans system sharing the same wider gauge as the museum it entered service almost immediately.
