Gallery 714: Trams Around the World - The Electric City Trolley Museum, Scranton

Built in 1905 as Philadelphia and Western 101 is a double truck baggage motor car designed to draw power from a third rail. Later renumbered to 1 and finally to 401; it was mostly used as a maintenance of way motor car in later years; retired in 1990 it was used at a temporary trolley museum on Delaware Avenue in Philadelphia. 401 was subsequently acquired by the Electric City Trolley Museum and is now on display in front of the main museum building under a simulated passenger shed.
