Around the World in Trams - The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum 2024 Trolley Fair

This is a composite construction double ended trolley car that was built as New Orleans Public Service Company 832 during 1922 by the Perley A. Thomas Car Company (order number 119). This car rides on two Brill 76E2 trucks each of which mounts a Westinghouse 360CV4 traction motor. This car has a K36J controller at each end. This car was built to the Pennsylvania Trolley gauge. This car was featured in LIFE Magazine during 1947 in an article about the Tennessee Williams play "A Streetcar Named Desire". When it was retired in 1964 when the Desire line was shut down it was acquired by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. The car cost the museum $1.00, the shipping $1400.00. This car was received in operating condition and because the gauge of the museum is the same as New Orleans, it went into service immediately.
