Around the World in Trams - The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum 2024 Trolley Fair

Pittsburgh Railways 1711 is a post war design President's Conference Commission ("PCC") with a Westinghouse XD423R control group and four Westinghouse 1432K traction motors which are carried on two B3 trucks. This car was built to the Pennsylvania Trolley gauge by the Saint Louis Car Company (order number 1669) between January and May 1949. This car was one of twenty-five equipped for use on the interurban lines to Washington and Charleroi. The ownership of this car was transferred to the Port of Allegheny Transit (PATransit) on 1st March 1964; it retained the number 1711. This car was retired in August 1988 and acquired by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in April 1990 after which it received a restoration. This car was again restored in 2001 by Adtranz which resulted in an almost new car.
