Around the World in Trams: The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum Trolley Fair 2022 Part 1

4th June 2022 saw the return of the popular Trolley Fair at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum for the first time since 2019 due to Covid enforced restrictions which had prevented it taking place in 2020 and 2021. Following a familiar format the event saw an operating display of a number of operating cars in the Museum's collection punctuated by three separate parades of trolley cars.

In this first part of two we include photos of the first two parades along with some of the operating trolleys and other movements both before and between these. The first parade was titled "Out of Town Cars" and featured New Orleans Public Service 832, Cincinnati Street Railways 2227, Philadelphia Rapid Transit 5326, Philadelphia Transportation Company (Red Arrow Lines) 66, Philadelphia and West Chester Traction Company 78, Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company (Red Arrow Lines) 14, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority ("SEPTA") 24 and a two car multiple unit train led by Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority ("SEPTA") 24 followed by Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company (Red Arrow Lines) 14.

This was followed at around 1300 the second parade which featured Works Cars: PATransit M210 Line Car, PATransit M283 Crane, Boston Elevated Railway 3618 Bottom Dump Car, PA Transit M551 Side Dump Car, Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company (Red Arrow Lines) 4 snow sweeper, West Penn Railways 1 switching locomotive and Beaver Valley Traction Company 1 snow sweeper.

In the second part of this gallery we will take a look at the third parade and a night photoshoot.

* The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is located in Washington, Pennsylvania. It mainly houses historic trolleys from Pennsylvania but also includes examples from across the rest of the US (including New Orleans) and also one car from Brazil. The museum is usually open April-December each year (although not all days of the week). For more details of the museum including opening times and admission visit their website at https://pa-trolley.org/.
