Still Standing! Tram rosettes in Oldham

Just above the decorative ledge on this building we can see a old rosette still in place. It may look a little rusty but its original purpose can still be ascertained.

    That is actually a guard type rosette used to stop electrical cables falling on to the actual overhead. It was designated type S4R and was common in olden days
    The actual tram rosette was below the ornamental frieze where the 4 holes drilled for the screws are shown.!
