Gallery 902: Around the World in Trams Special - San Francisco Trolleys 1974

This section of Market Street once had four tracks on it, the inner ones used by the (second) Market Street Railway, the outer by the Municipal Railway of San Francisco. In 1974 the trolleys had only the two inner tracks for use; the area of the outer tracks had been given over to motorbuses and trolley buses. Here is PCC car 1021 on the inner rails and Marmon-Herrington trolley bus 720 on the outer roadway. 1021 will go to the East Bay Terminal. 720 will go to a terminal opposite the Ferry building at the foot of Market Street.
