Gallery 902: Around the World in Trams Special - San Francisco Trolleys 1974

Car 1157 negotiates the revised entrance to the Twin Peaks Tunnel on August 31st 1974. At this time the Municipal Railway was in the process of converting itself to a trolley rapid transit type operation and one of the earliest projects was to build the connection between the Twin Peaks Tunnel’s east end and the double level tunnel built by the Bay Area Rapid Transit under Market Street. Underneath all of this construction is the site of the former subterranean Eureka Valley station.
