Gallery 902: Around the World in Trams Special - San Francisco Trolleys 1974

On 31st August 1974 the National Railway Historical Railway Society undertook a tour of the trolley lines of the San Francisco Municipal Railway as part of their convention and this commenced on 11th Street wye just off of Market Street. The last car in the procession was 1006, the lowest numbered car then operating in San Francisco. This car was built as a two man double ended PCC car but was rebuilt in 1954 for one man entry. The cab at the rear end was taken out of use but the controls remained for back-up moves. In this first view we see the front of the car.
