Gallery 874: Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum 50th Anniversary - 25th August 2019 |
They were known as trackless trolleys when first introduced and in a first for British Trams Online this gallery concentrates on the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft and a spectacular event held there over the August Bank Holiday weekend of 2019 (Saturday 24th to Monday 26th inclusive). To mark the museum's 50th anniversary, a record-breaking number of trolleybuses were operated, with most of the collection either in service or displayed prominently outside over the weekend. On all three days, the museum basked in glorious sunshine - if anything, it was too hot! This created some superb photographic opportunities with rows of vehicles against a beautiful blue sky backdrop. Although Sandtoft is of course primarily a trolleybus museum, there are also some items of interest to the tram enthusiast to be found on site and these are featured here, as well as a snapshot of this most impressive event with a series of views from Sunday 25th August 2019. |
