Gallery 869: Picture in Time Special - Sheffield Corporation Tramways 1958 & 1960

Our first look at one of the most modern trams to run on Sheffield's original tramway - a Roberts Car. These sleek trams were built by Charles Roberts in the period 1950-2 but would all end up being withdrawn when the tramway closed in 1960 - well before their time. Of course, two remain in preservation - 510 at Crich and 513 currently at the East Anglia Transport Museum. This view shows 512 on 8th November 1958 at Fitzalan Square with a service to Woodseats via Queens Road.
